Internal Notes

Leave timestamped notes on any request so reviewers can share context, ask questions, or log reasoning — without affecting the approval decision.

What are internal notes?

Internal notes are private, timestamped comments attached to a specific approval request. They are visible only to workspace members — never to the AI Assistant or the system that submitted the request.

Context

"This refund pattern matches the known fraud spike on March 15 — decline."

Questions

"@alice can you check the original order before we approve this?"

Audit trail

"Escalated to Legal at 14:32 — waiting on confirmation."

Adding a note

Open any request in the Approval Inbox or History. In the request detail panel, find the Internal Notes section, type your note, and click Add note.

Who can add notes

Any workspace member with a REVIEWER role or above. VIEWERs can read notes but cannot add them.

Limits

Up to 5 notes per request, 500 characters each. Notes cannot be edited or deleted after submission.

Notifications

When a note is added, Cheqpoint sends an email notification to:

Assigned reviewerIf they are not the person who wrote the note.
Request watchersAll teammates tagged as watchers on the request. Growth+ — see the Watchers guide.
Workspace ownersIf the request is high risk — owners are always kept in the loop on risky decisions.

Notifications respect working hours. If your workspace has working hours enabled and the note is added outside those hours, emails are suppressed unless the request priority is urgent.
